Thanksgiving Inspiration

The weather is finally getting crisp in San Francisco, and it's time for Host-It Notes to accept reality: the holidays are here. I find myself turning to the web for a bit of Thanksgiving inspiration. First up, Yankee Magazine's buttery-brown holiday table. Stylist Matthew Mead overturned a long tin box to create a raised centerpiece down the table then topped it with bittersweet and roses. I love his use of gourds and persimmons throughout, particularly the cheeky persimmon perched on a low candlestick. Below is a mantel in the same theme. The richly colored glass bottle adds varied texture and style to the scene. What really works in this scene are the varied heights drawing your attention in and up. After the guests are gone, it's time to recycle your decor and bake some fresh persimmon cookies. (Photos by Francine Zaslow)
