Here's to a New Year!

It's 2010 and I'm glad to be back, happy and well-rested after hosting the holidays. My stocking was stuffed with everything a lucky girl could want for her next party—entertaining books, kitchen gadgets, and stationery to name a few. Let's kick off a new year of ideas, must-have items, and parties galore with a bit of junk food inspiration.

Spotted on the Hostess® website, this cake is the creation of Chef Phil Delaplane from Red Hook, NY. Delaplane made his own wedding cake entirely from Hostess snack cakes in only one hour. He built tiers with layers of Styrofoam disks, then pieced together Twinkies, Cup Cakes, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Suzy Q’s, Sno Balls and Mini Muffins.

Think of it, all this goodness in just one hour? Readers, you have your assignment: make an upscale snack cake creation of your own then send a picture to me at so I can showcase your handiwork. Then grab a glass of milk and enjoy. Happy 2010!


  1. Dang it if I didn't already get married! And in Korea where Hostess is not. But this is AWESOME. Also, I see some Swiss Cake Rolls up there. Or are Swiss Cake Rolls Little Debbie? Anyway, I am now craving all sort of snacks I can't have!
