Cake Stand Love: Artist Esther Coombs

I suppose Esther Coombs creations would be described more as tiered cupcakes stand than straight cake stands. Nonetheless, they're in our cake-stand-loving spotlight today as standout work unlike any I've ever seen. Esther upcycles old china into pretty new pedestals (if you're not familiar with the term, upcycling is the repurposing of a material into a product of higher quality). She then hand-illustrates them with a ceramic ink pen. Above she's put together some lovely colors, then added drawings of a piping bag and decorative icing. Delicious!

And what about this one with illustrations from London's most recognizable museums? I'm not crazy about the stodgy mug on top but the drawings are divine.

Or this blue beauty with a lemon pie theme? Love the tea bag tag hanging from the cup.

From top to bottom, Coombs' work is loaded with charm. Her three-tiered cake stands run $180 each, and she has smaller sizes and individual pieces available as well. Check out these and more here at her Etsy shop.
